JUNIOR MEMBERs MONTHLY MEETINGS & EVENTS

Starting SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH 2025 we will have a monthly meeting for all ELC Junior Members! Each month we will have a special guest speaker from all different areas of PA Hunting, Fishing, & PGC. Our goal is to teach our junior members a variety of skills & knowledge to stay safe & be prepared for all future outdoor activities & how to respect wildlife & the outdoors!

  • SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH | 9AM

    Our first ELC Junior Members meeting! Wildlife Conservation Officer Greg Grahamn will speak to the group. The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s mission is to manage and protect wildlife and their habitats, while promoting hunting and trapping, for current and future generations. Greg will discuss what it is like to be a Wildlife Conservation Officer - Game Warden.

    Speaker Mark Ammon from Marsh Creek Bass Club LTD. MCBCLTD is dedicated to providing the highest ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, honest competition, conservation, and education of our youth in the pursuit of bass fishing.

    PGC Wildlife Biologist Guest Speaker will discuss the day to day of wildlife science! see wildlife on state game lands, in parks, and even your own backyard. But, have you ever wondered how biologists ensure Pennsylvania's wildlife thrives? Dive into the science behind PGC Wildlife at this month’s meeting.

    Guest speaker from Ruffed Grouse Society. RGS & AWS unites conservationists to improve wildlife habitat and forest health for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and ALL forest wildlife. We promote forest stewardship for our forests, our wildlife and our future.

    Speaker Don Fulmer dicusses Flintlock firearms. Pennsylvania is the only state in the United States with a season dedicated to flintlock rifles. This annual event, steeped in history and heritage, brings hunters together to celebrate not only the thrill of the hunt but also the skills and techniques that have been passed down through generations.

PA HUNTER-TRAPPER EDUCATION CLASS

SATURDAY, APRIL 26TH
8AM - 3PM

In order to receive a Pennsylvania Basic Hunter-Trapper Education certificate, students must successfully pass a multiple choice/true-false exam with a score of 80% or higher. Curriculum for both the in-person course and the online courses covers ethics and responsible hunting behavior, basic firearm safety, basic shooting skills, wildlife conservation and management, basic firearm and archery hunting techniques, outdoor preparedness and fur-taking basics. The in-person course is offered free of charge.

This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.

*IMPORTANT! In order to prepare for your class, read Chapters 1, 4, 5 and 9 located at Today's Hunter & Trapper in PA.
